Find Doctors for Beechworth – May update

While our Find Doctors For Beechworth campaign has not yet resulted in finding any full-time doctors, we are very pleased to share that we do have some new doctors to tell you about. More on them below.

We would firstly like to sincerely thank you, our community, for your support of the Find Doctors for Beechworth campaign. You helped spread the message far and wide. In addition to early media coverage in our region, the campaign was also picked up by Seven national news and ABC’s Life Matters program.

The campaign officially finishes at the end of May. However, we will honour our offer of a $1000 reward to the community group of your choice if you put us in touch with a doctor who comes to work here during 2025.

New doctors

Dr Greg Gladman heard about our campaign and is now working here one day a week. We’re pleased that this means an additional 24 appointments are available with a very experienced GP.

Dr Gladman has worked in General Practice in the north east for almost 30 years and recently moved to Chiltern. He has been involved in the training and education of GPs, particularly rural doctors, across the country. He spends most of the week in his current position as the National Director of Training for the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM), supporting further education for doctors in rural and remote areas. Dr Gladman has a special interest in men’s health.

We continued our search for new Registrars, and are pleased to say Dr Natalia Gutierrez Ramirez will start with us in August and will be available four days per week. This means a big boost in appointment numbers. She is looking to settle in a community where she can complete her training and live for years to come. We look forward to welcoming her. Dr Gutierrez Ramirez has a special interest in palliative care.

Update on our locum doctors

You may have been offered an appointment with either Dr Caroline McBride or Dr Elizabeth Crouch in the last six months. We are very pleased that these locum doctors have made commitments to come to our practice regularly.

Dr McBride first came in December 2024 and will return for her third locum placement at the end of May.

Dr Elizabeth Crouch had her first locum placement in October 2024 and will return in August for her third placement with us.

Farewell to Dr Mohit Jain

Many of you will have been cared for by Dr Mohit Jain who joined us in August 2023 as a Registrar and was originally only staying for one semester as he wanted to be closer to Melbourne.

He was so impressed with the practice and the support he received from his supervisors that he decided to stay on and has completed his entire GP training (two years) with us. He is now waiting to be appointed as a Fellow with RACGP and will finish up here on 10 July. We really appreciated his contribution to our surgery and community and his commitment to stay on when our doctor numbers were low. We know you will join us in wishing him well.
